James Griffith

James has been a hairdresser for nearly 40 years and a salon owner for over 30, being a part of the Aveda family since inception. James was one of the original Pure-fessionals going back 35 years and had the privilege of attending the first Aveda Congress during this time in his 20's. Meeting Horst and traveling to shows with him chanaged his life forever. At this first Aveda Congress Horst invited the Creative Director, Jacques Dessange, and at that time, he presented and introduced James to French Cutting. James and his team were the first salon and stylists to attend the world famous Jacques Dessange Training Academy in NYC when they came over from Paris 30+ years ago. They have been continuously working with the technique ever since. All thanks to his early involvement with Aveda, James and his team consider themselves the French cutting experts for a reason. "We've been teaching and executing this technique as long as anyone else in the states. Our In-House program has been in place since day one and JGS still proudly has the first 3 team members with them and teaching." James still works behind the chair every week and travels to classes with his team. In addition to being a hairdresser, James is a rock guitar player, so music is definitely a topic he discusses in class! Enjoy!
